After spending a few days playing around with Squarespace I decided to take the plunge and subscribe as a customer! I had spent the last few months rethinking how I wanted my website to look like after unsubscribing from Zenfolio. I even tried my hand at using WordPress hosted by Globat.com to redesign my photography website but I could never get it to run the way it needed to i.e. ease of use and speed of response.
I started with Zenfolio a couple of years ago because it was the best photography hosting site for what I needed at the time. It was affordable and it offered templates which I could customise the look-and-feel of my website. Over the years new website providers emerged on the scene offering new and/or improved features and I began evaluating these just to keep up with what's out there.
A few days ago I stumbled across Karl Taylor's video sharing his experience with Squarespace and that piqued my curiosity. I signed up for a trial account and spent a few days playing with the features and designing the look for my webpage. The company had recently released version 7 of their website design package and I was really impressed with the ease-of-use and the aesthetics that could be achieved designing with it. It offers an easy interface to master for casual designers and a more involved developer platform for hardcore designers.
In the days to come I will be trying out other features of the platform to see what else I can do with it. I want to be able to create a private page for my clients to view their photos as well as build a page for placing orders for products.
For now I have been very happy with Squarespace and welcome to my new home!
